After our summer break, we were able to finish the final kerning on this fun little font. It’s based loosely off our Extendo font but slightly less extended. Available now at Creative Market.
Here are a couple of #vector #tshirtdesign #illustrations we did for assembly during its stint last year. Sad to see it go, but we wanted to share these regardless.
Many people over the past seven (yes seven!) years have asked me about the TriLion logo. I’m always happy to share about it, but have never posted a write-up about it until now.
The logo is broken into three different sections. Everything has a meaning, and should – because that’s what makes part of a good brand. I did a retake on all of the logos lines and circles this year to really be as precise as I could get. Below you can see the new build of the logo.
1. The Lion
The Great Lion.
In the history of the world, the lion truly stands out among all the animals. Our Lion has a few specific pieces of historical connection to it. As a kid my mom and I read C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia series. Scenes of lions were vividly painted in my mind – from Shasta’s experience with lions in “The Horse and His Boy”, to the beautiful imagery of Aslan the Great Lion literally breathing the world into existence in “The Magician’s Nephew“. This lion is a metaphor for the God who created the world. A father figure who is perfect.
My last name is White.
It used to be spelled Wyte or Whyte a long time ago. My dad had ordered a family name history from the Historical Research Center and I saw the crest of arms for my surname. The coat of arms varies depending on where you pull it from, but the main element is three lions on the shield. Oh, I almost forgot – I’m loyal unto death.
2. The mane
The mane is a feature of the logo that is really important to me. I love water, and love the thought of living water that quenches your thirst forever. This is a metaphor for the Holy Spirit which gives you a direct audience and connection with God. A Spirit of Life that enables you to have a relationship with your maker. Your maker. Amazing. I don’t use the word “Awesome” much and try and reserve it for when I try to talk about Him.
“But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” – John 4:14 ESV.
Rivers of Living Water
“On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.” – John 7:37-39 ESV (Talking about the Holy Spirit)
3. The “3”
Now I know you probably are thinking oh he is going to talk about the three lions on his coat of arms. But honestly the first thing I thought of when building this company’s logo was giving glory to God and having Him be the focal point of the business.
“The Christian doctrine of the Trinity (Latin: Trinitas, lit. ‘triad’, from trinus, “threefold”) holds that God is three consubstantial persons or hypostases—the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit—as “one God in three Divine Persons”. – Wikipedia
God is a triune God. He is three Persons – yet the same. Kind of hard to wrap your brain around, yes it is. But a good analogy I think of is water. Water is liquid, vapor, and ice. All the same thing, yet each with different character traits.
God the Father:
“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! ” –1 John 3:1
God the Son:
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” – John 1:14 ESV
God the Holy Spirit:
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” – Romans 15:13 ESV
So now that I have some how preached a mini sermon when explaining this design, I need to bring it to a close. TriLion’s business model is 1. Faith 2. Family 3. Business. Does that mean I could care less how I run my business? Exactly opposite. I put God and my family first, because I love them. I like my business and I love design, but always need to keep things in context. When I have a balance in my personal life, I have a great foundation to launch brands and connect with clients during business hours.
Thanks for your time. I thank you for your interest in my company and hope we can work together in the future. If not at least a chat over coffee.

Apprentice Gathering 2015
We had the opportunity to go to the Apprentice Gathering in Wichita, KS last weekend. It was a great experience and I was impressed by the speakers. We were asked to provide photography for next year’s site and we brought down some equipment. I tried to hug the edges of the crowd and blend in as best I could. We have some good shots for next year, and some good memories. It was neat to see all the branding we had done come to fruition and be visible throughout the conference after the internal team implemented our graphics.
